About Matt
Greetings. My name is Matt Smith, I am the author and publisher of smithbaseball.com.
I am an old-fashioned, goal-oriented entrepreneur in his infancy. When I say infancy, of course, I am speaking metaphorically. I was born in Kalamazoo Michigan on September 11th, 1979. Born and raised in a small town southwest of Detroit. I moved to Washington state in 2001. My big brother offered me his couch for a few months until I was able to afford a place of my own. Moving to Seattle turned out to be a life-changing event for me. Not just in the physical aspect of culture but in the mental aspect as well. I feel as if my mind has expanded in so many different directions since I moved away from the small town in Michigan. I have had inspiration coming at me from all angles in the past few months and there never seems to be a lack of inspiration to assist me in achieving my aspirations. I started this blog with the intention of bringing some people together to talk about this great game. After the site was up and running, I began to think even more deeply into what it is that I wanted to accomplish.
I love baseball and I love life. I began to think “Perhaps there is some way to combine the two.” Like I stated before, I am looking at this as a test run. It may turn out to be more than that, I don’t know. I do know that I would like to bring people together to talk baseball and to also talk about life in general. Everyday that I sit down at my desk, that inspiration showers me and I get more and more ideas as to what I want to do. Some of them I dismiss at the time, however, they are put on paper for future reference. So many things to learn and so many ideas to try. This is going to be fun. I hope you join me along the way.
I live in the emerald city of Seattle with my girlfriend and our Son. Whenever we can, we like to get outside and enjoy the beautiful scenery here in the pacific northwest. Nothing quite like it. Mountains on one side and ocean on the other. It’s really breath-taking, especially in the summer months.
When people think of Seattle, they think of the space needle. The space needle is a magnificent structure. It’s really hard to appreciate it’s beauty until you actually stand underneath it or take a ride to the observation deck. It’s truly amazing.
